Training

Prospective students can choose which training track best suits their interest and music goals.

Exam Track

We offer an examination-oriented track with a set syllabus for seven levels. Admitted students need to be of age 5+ and are assigned to a particular level or class based on prior music knowledge and singing ability. Typical training time for the beginner levels (1-3) ranges from 7 to 12 months while the intermediate and upper levels may need 1-2 years of training.

Examinations based on the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya (ABGM) syllabus are offered once a year (in November/December) and students are encouraged to appear for these. ABGM grants certificates after passing each level, that are recognized and transferable to future levels oversees and in India, if the student wishes to continue their training from another country.

The exam track offers a structured and systematic approach to learning Hindustani vocal music.

Non-Exam Track

We have several students who wish to pursue vocal training for personal enrichment and do not wish to appear for exams. We offer a structured path for these students as well. Training focuses on the fundamentals of Hindustani music, Raag, Lay, Taal and then progresses to learning bandishes in specific Raags or semi-classical songs. This approach offers more flexibility in tailoring the class to a student’s need while maintaining a rigorous and disciplined approach.
